The spirit of Kadinsky, Blake, Gibran, and Klee are among the many artists that haveimpacted my paintings and sculpture.  In addition, Asian scroll and screen paintings are among the multi-cultural influences that can be seen in my current work.  Currently I am painting on Chinese, Korean and Japanese rice paper using a combination of acrylics, sumi ink and iridescent medium.

The scroll and screen paintings of Asia showed me a whole new vision  -- the appreciation of a single brush stroke, the power of abstract art that goes beyond the Western tradition.

My work is both intimate and expansive.  My paintings capture the life of the spirit, the inner dance of the soul.  I call many of my works "soulscapes."

It is not my intention to expose the surface of things; rather I attempt to reveal the life forces that lie beneath these surfaces.  When people see my work, I want them to feel they are being lifted outside their ordinary time and space.  Through my art I try to express a sense of joy that lifts the spirit and helps ease the burden of everyday life.

My work is very spontaneous.  It is exciting to see the vitality I am able to express in my brushwork.  I want my colors to come alive with dancing images that suggest countless interpretations.

Art is a relationship among the artist, the viewer and the work itself. Like any relationship, one's experience brings new insights and inspiration.  The test of a fine work of art is how well the relationship sustains over time.
